South Miami Families: A Neighboring Studio for First Classes and Next Steps
South Miami and Coral Gables share a border. For a South Miami family, the question is often not whether to try dance but which kind, and whether a studio will say honestly where a child stands.
- Neighboring city to the southwest
- Siblings placed separately by level
- Jazz and acro alongside ballet
Where we are, generally
South Miami is southwest of the studio, along the US-1/South Dixie Highway corridor. The studio is generally northeast, in Coral Gables. We leave the route itself to you and your map app.

What a South Miami family may be weighing
The decision, and how we approach it
A family comparing several studios is making a sensible choice, and we encourage it. The trial class is the honest way to see the teaching, the room, and how your child responds.
Households with children at different stages, such as a preschooler and an older sibling, can start both in the right place: Early Ballet for the youngest and a level-based children's class for the older child.

Who teaches your child
Led by Lourdes Arteaga
Lourdes Arteaga is a former principal dancer with Teatro Colón and Ballet of Santiago de Chile. She directs a studio that has served Coral Gables for nearly 20 years, where classical standards and personal attention are not in competition with each other.

Frequently asked
- We have two children of different ages. Can they start at the same time?
- Yes. Each child takes a trial and is placed separately. A preschooler might start in Early Ballet while an older sibling is placed in a children's level that fits their experience.
- Is jazz a good choice instead of ballet?
- Jazz is a wonderful class on its own, and our faculty notes that a strong ballet foundation helps students progress in jazz. Many dancers take both. We will talk through options after the trial.
- What should my child wear to the trial?
- Wear tights if available; otherwise, shorts and a comfortable shirt work well. Ballet slippers or ballet shoes are preferred, but socks work if you do not have them yet. The required uniform is sold at the studio after enrollment.
The first step is a trial class
Bring your South Miami dancer for a trial class.
Tell us about your dancer. We will contact you with the most appropriate available option, and after the trial our faculty recommends placement. Submitting a request does not reserve a class.
