Everything the Intermediate & Advanced Program Offers
Classical ballet is the core. From there, motivated students can add disciplines, pursue pointe, and access the competition and company pathway.
Ballet
The core of the program. All teen students train in classical ballet regardless of other disciplines they add.
Pointe
For students whose strength and technique have been assessed and confirmed by faculty. Offered when readiness (not age) is established.
Contemporary/Lyrical
Expressive dance combining classical and contemporary vocabulary. Available to students with an established ballet foundation.
Acro
Skill-based acrobatic training designed for dancers. Strength, flexibility, and controlled acrobatic elements.
Jazz
High-energy technique built on a classical foundation. Available alongside ballet based on placement and schedule.
Competition Training
For students interested in regional or national competition. Access to the Pre-Company and Company Team pathways.
How the Pointe Pathway Works
Pointe work is one of classical ballet's most recognizable milestones. At Miami Royal Ballet, a student is considered for pointe training when our faculty determine their technique, strength, foot structure, and physical readiness are appropriate.
This is a faculty decision, not a parent or student request, and it is made individually. There is no minimum age or number of years of study that automatically qualifies a dancer for pointe. Some students begin pointe; others develop excellent classical technique without ever pursuing it, and both paths are valid.
We take this seriously because starting pointe before a student is ready can cause injury. Our faculty's careful approach is how it should be done.
Classical foundation
Strong technique is the prerequisite for everything else.
Faculty assessment
Readiness is evaluated by faculty, individually and privately.
Proper equipment
Correct fitting, brand, and shank strength for each dancer's foot.
Progressive training
Introduced carefully, built gradually, never rushed.
More Than a Class. A Community.
Teens who train at Miami Royal Ballet often describe the studio as the most grounding part of their week. Here is what that actually looks like.
A Peer Group That Gets It
Dance is hard, demanding, and unlike most things teens do. Your peers here know what that means. They show up for each other.
A Place to Belong
Many teen students describe the studio as the part of their week they look forward to most. It becomes theirs.
Performance Season
Students perform in several high-profile shows and community events throughout Coral Gables and Miami, creating memorable experiences they carry with them.
A Path to More
Motivated teens can pursue Pre-Company, Company Team, competition training, and advanced classical variations. The pathway is open for those who want it.
Training also develops character: responsibility, commitment, discipline, and hard work become daily habits that help each student become the best version of themselves.
The Pre-Company & Company Team Pathway
Teens whose technique, commitment, and readiness meet faculty standards may be invited to participate in our Pre-Company program and, ultimately, the Company Team: our full competition and performance track.
This is not the right path for every student, and that is intentional. The program is demanding, the standards are high, and the results are real. Students who pursue this path train harder, perform more, and grow faster.
