Professor Ballerina
Graduated form the Escuela Nacional de Arte of Cuba in 1981 as Professor Ballerina.
Lourdes Arteaga has received many awards including: the gold medal at the International Ballet Contest in
Rio de Janeiro in 1988 in the categories of Pas de Deux and best female soloists;
the second prize and La Ville de Paris medal handed by Princess Carolina of Monaco at the International Contest of Dance in Paris.
In 1989 she joined the Teatro Municipal de Ballet of Santiago de Chile as the principal dancer,
where soon after she was chosen by choreographer and director Ivan Nagy to perform several roles in his choreographies.
Lourdes joined the Ballet Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1992.
There she became principal dancer and danced for twelve years in several choreographies
from well known choreographers such as George Balanchine, Roland Petit, Ben Stevenson, John Cranco,
and many others. She also danced alongside Julio Bocca and Jorge Esquivel just to mention a few.
She has been invited to perform in theaters throughout Europe and America.
